About Olga Foraponova
Founder of Oly's Dancesport Studio, World Renowned Ballroom Dance Instructor
Two times U.S. National Ballroom Champion and World Showdance Finalist, Olga Foraponova Wright is an international celebrity in the world of competitive ballroom dance. Her dancing was showcased on national television in PBS’s “Championship Ballroom Dancing.”
She is rated a “High Qualification professional Dance Teacher” having passed the related Professional State Examination and received the prestigious “Russian Community Person of the Year 2008″.
She began her dance education in Ural Russia and by age 19 she and her dance partner had became Ural & Siberian Champions in both Standard and Latin. Olga later went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in dance, studying choreography, ballet, jazz, and folk dancing, in addition to ballroom dancing.
She moved to the United States in 1992 and became a two times U.S. National Ballroom Champion and World Showdance Finalist. Her dancing was showcased on national television in PBS’s “Championship Ballroom Dancing.”
Together with David, she was featured on the cover L.A. Life magazine, the cover Ohio Star Ball 1989 Program and was featured in the newest line of practice-wear on the cover of Dance Fashion Magazine created by Dance Vision.
That same year they became the United States National Professional Ballroom Top Couple of the year - recognized by the American Ballroom Company and United States Dancesport Championships
A CD “The Essential” most famous ballroom tracks depicts the flying photo of her and David in “Waltz Collections - original music for dancing”.
Olga has coached other champions, and regularly judges National and International Competitions.
Spreading her knowing past the ballroom world she coached Cirque du Soleil soloists bringing them to the top of their craft leading to the earned titles of world champion circus performers (Andre Koltsov and Vasiliy Deminchukov). A world-class performance in Monte Carlo. Andre created and directed musicals “Reverse” and “Princess of the Circus” along with many others. He reached the highest level of difficulty in hanging rings - tricks that was yet to be performed in over 29 years and to present. Vasiliy was one of the very first Cirque du Soleil performers - his main act being climbing and balancing on 14 stacked chairs. One of the most notable audience members included Micheal Jackson.
Working in the Everett School District, Olga inspired the mission of the CBZ foundation. She shared her passion with each of the hundreds of children she worked with - teaching skills reaching far beyond the steps. The impact she made culminating in lifelong achievement award from the CBZ Foundation (2015). One created by Kym Zion in honor of her son and one of Olga’s first young students in WA state.
A few years later she became certified through DSHS to teach dancers with disabilities and lead them to developing life-changing skills. Skills they demonstrated in front of a 200 person audience in several performances.
In fulfillment of her dream to see her students dancing and realizing themselves as successful artists and motivated individuals, Olga has created Oly’s Dance Studio in Everett, Bellevue, and Mukilteo, Washington, where she fuels passion through Dance.
